CJ2+ VS CJ2
The Citation CJ2 and CJ2+ are two models of the popular CitationJet family of business jets manufactured by Cessna Aircraft Company. While they share many similarities, there are a few key differences between the CJ2 and CJ2+.
One of the main differences between the two models is their avionics systems. The CJ2+ features an upgraded avionics package, which includes the Collins Pro Line 21 system with a four-display EFIS (Electronic Flight Instrument System), FMS (Flight Management System), and dual GPS (Global Positioning System) navigation. The CJ2, on the other hand, features an earlier version of the Pro Line 21 system with a three-display EFIS and single GPS.
Another difference between the two models is their performance capabilities. The CJ2+ has a slightly higher maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) than the CJ2, allowing for a slightly higher payload capacity and range. Additionally, the CJ2+ has a higher climb rate than the CJ2.
In terms of cabin amenities, both the CJ2 and CJ2+ offer similar configurations and features, including a spacious cabin with seating for up to 7 passengers, a refreshment center, and a private lavatory.
The CJ2+ offers some performance improvements over the CJ2, including:
Increased Maximum Takeoff Weight (MTOW): The CJ2+ has an increased MTOW of 12,500 lbs, compared to the CJ2's MTOW of 12,500 lbs. This increase allows for a slightly higher payload capacity and range.
Higher Maximum Cruise Speed: The CJ2+ has a higher maximum cruise speed of 418 knots, compared to the CJ2's maximum cruise speed of 404 knots. This means the CJ2+ can cover a given distance in less time than the CJ2.
Improved Climb Performance: The CJ2+ has a faster climb rate than the CJ2, with a climb rate of 4,080 feet per minute (fpm), compared to the CJ2's climb rate of 3,720 fpm. This allows the CJ2+ to reach its cruising altitude more quickly, reducing the time required to reach the destination.
Increased Range: The CJ2+ has a maximum range of 1,875 nautical miles (nm), compared to the CJ2's maximum range of 1,575 nm. This increase in range allows the CJ2+ to fly longer distances without refueling.
Enhanced Avionics: The CJ2+ features an upgraded avionics package, including the Collins Pro Line 21 system with a four-display EFIS (Electronic Flight Instrument System), FMS (Flight Management System), and dual GPS (Global Positioning System) navigation. This advanced avionics suite provides pilots with improved situational awareness and reduces workload during flight.
Overall, while the CJ2+ offers some improvements over the CJ2 in terms of avionics and performance, both models are highly regarded for their reliability, efficiency, and versatility.
